cONTEMPORARY DIGITAL ARTIST

Picture

My name is Mark Turner, and for 35 years I have worked as a commercial artist, exhibition stand designer, and visualiser, using marker pens and computer aided design.

I have now decided that I wish to produce my own artwork and designs, using the same commercial techniques I have learned over the last 35 years to produce unique, contemporary, graphic images. I hand draw the initial sketches, and complete the drawing with a black pen, I then apply the colour, texture, & tones with a computer, these are again all done individually by hand, instead of using a pencil, pen, or brush, I am using a mouse.
My work is based on the rural and urban landscapes in and around my home city of Sheffield, I draw a lot of inspiration from this is area, with its long and proud industrial heritage, and juxtaposed modernisation. The city limits reach out to embrace the Peak District, and the natural landscapes run back into the city, merging the two together, creating a vibrant and "green" city.

My earliest work [and a continuing subject] is inspired by the area I know and love, in and around the village of Bradfield, the surrounding countryside, and beautiful reservoirs, where my wife and I spend time walking and cycling.

I have been inspired over the years by the work of Turner [no relation as far as I know?] the Impressionists, Expressionism, Cubism, the Japanese artist Hokusai, and lately the Austrian artist Voka.
