My name is Mark Julian Turner, and for 35 years I worked as a commercial artist, exhibition stand designer, and visualiser, using marker pens and computer aided design.
For many years I have used the same commercial techniques to produce a range of contemporary vibrant images [something even David Hockney has become known for].
My initial sketches are hand drawn and inked in with a black pen, then completed using a computer and mouse for the application of colour, texture and tone.
My earliest work is inspired by the area I know and love, in and around the village of Bradfield, [near Sheffield] the surrounding countryside, and beautiful reservoirs, where my wife and I spend time walking and cycling.
Over the years I have admired the work of Turner [no relation as far as I know?] the Impressionists, Expressionism, and Abstract art. Drawing on this inspiration I have now taken the step to paint large free flowing abstracts, which is a much more intuitive process. I like the ambiguity that leaves them open to interpretation by the viewer, who then becomes an integral part in the exploration of a piece of work.
